All the travelling

I have nothing to my name
Only this suitcase I’m carrying
My coat is heavy but it’s plain
It’s warm enough but now it’s wearing thin
From wind and rain
And all the travelling

Who knows what brought me to this place
A flip of the coin, mere coincidence
So many people along the way
Acts of love and random incidents
A picture frame
Of all the travelling

Took a lot of miles
Can’t say there wasn’t any pain
I finally realize
That the road is wide
And time is on my side

I have nothing to my name
Places to go but I’m not hurrying
No longer caught up in this game
And the ticking of the clock that kept me worrying
Winds of change
And all the travelling
All the travelling
All the travelling
All the travelling

Down to the sea

I got weary
So I walked down to the sea
To the cool of the water
To find serenity
And I hold
And I breathe
Feel the ground
Underneath

The house is simple
The doors are open wide
With plenty of windows
To let in air and light
And I rise
And I sleep
I feel the tide
Come over me

The soul is as light as a feather
The weight that I carry is deep
I’m shouting my name at the weather
And it’s shouting my name back at me

I got weary
So I walked down to the sea
To the cool of the water
And I found peace in me

House With Yellow Windows

We took the old road to the city
As we left the dual carriageway behind
With every house and sign we passed
This feeling in my heart was realigned

I’ve always been dreaming
Now I can clearly see
The house with yellow windows
Is waiting for me

The times we spent together
The friends we made, with laughter and with song
It seems like an eternity
Though it hasn’t been that long

Now I am returning
To the city by the sea
Where the house with yellow windows
Is waiting for me

I’ve always been dreaming
Now I can clearly see
The house with yellow windows
Is waiting for me

Out of this town

You have been broken hearted
All of your plans have been thwarted
You haven’t quite recovered
From your last defeat

Yes you can sit there waiting
It doesn’t bear contemplating
Your sorrow’s a melody
That’s playing on repeat

Come on girl, let’s get out of this town
Catch a dream and chase it all around
Trough your hopes high in the air
Don’t let time slip away

Come on girl, let’s get out of this town
And not worry if it’s love we found
Through your hopes high in the air
Don’t let time slip away

Against the wind that’s blowing
You got to keep on rowing
Look at the sunlight coming
Right across the bay

Maybe we’ll stick together
Through all the rougher weather
What’s in a roll of the dice
No one can really say

Come on girl, let’s get out of this town…

Here’s to what tomorrow brings
Here’s to brand new days

Come on girl, let’s get out of this town…

I’ll tell me ma

I’ll tell me ma when I go home
The boys won’t leave the girls alone
They pulled my hair, they stole my comb
But that’s all right till I go home

She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city
She is courting one, two, three
Please, won’t you tell me, who is she?

Albert Mooney says he loves her
All the boys are fighting for her
They knock at the door and they ring the bell
Saying, oh my true love, are you well?
Out she comes as white as snow
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes
Old John Murray says she’ll die
If she doesn’t get the fellow with the roving eye

She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city
She is courting one, two, three
Please, won’t you tell me, who is she?

Let the wind and the rain and the hail blow high
Let the snow come tumbling from the sky
She’s as nice as apple pie
And she’ll get her fellow by and by
When she gets a lad of her own
She won’t tell her ma when she goes home
Let them all come as they will
It’s Albert Mooney she loves still

To the dreamers

You shut your eyes
You want to shed your skin
It feels like something’s broken
From within

You shut your mind
And stop making sense
You just wish there is hope
Around the bend

Where the road is open
And the sky is wide
A million stars
Will be your guide
And from the East
It soon will dawn
Here’s to the dreamers
Keep dreaming on

Step by step
And rung by rung
At times what seems easy
Can’t be done

You close your eyes
And stop making sense
You just wish for a sign
Around the bend

Where the road is open
And the sky is wide
A million stars
Will be your guide
And from the East
It soon will dawn
Here’s to the dreamers
Keep dreaming on

And every morning when you rise,
You’re starting over, once again
Sometimes change comes in disguise
A riddle to unravel, a mystery to be solved
It won’t be long and you’ll be on your way

And the road is open
And the sky is wide
A million stars
Will be your guide
And from the East
It soon will dawn
Here’s to the dreamers
Keep dreaming on
